Are my files uploaded?

No — resizing runs entirely in your browser on a canvas; your images never leave your device.

Frequently asked questions

Is resizing to 1920 × 1080 free?
Yes — unlimited, with no watermark and no sign-up. It runs in your browser.
Fill or Fit — what is the difference?
Fill scales and center-crops to exactly 1920 × 1080 px. Fit scales the whole image to fit inside 1920 × 1080 px and pads the rest, so nothing is cut off.
Do you upload my images?
No. Everything happens on your device; your files are never sent to a server.

1920×1080 (Full HD): how to fit any photo

What 1920 × 1080 is

1920 × 1080 is Full HD, also called 1080p: 1920 pixels across and 1080 down, about 2.07 million pixels in total. The aspect ratio is 16:9 — the shape of almost every TV, laptop screen and video player.

Where this size is used:

  • desktop wallpapers for Full HD monitors and laptops;
  • backgrounds for 16:9 presentation slides;
  • frames, title cards and end screens for 1080p video;
  • pictures for TVs, digital signage and in-store screens;
  • website banners and hero images that expect a 16:9 picture.

Don't mix it up with 1080 × 1920. That's the same number of pixels standing upright (9:16), used for Stories, Reels and phone wallpapers — use the Instagram Story size for that.

Fill or Fit: what happens to your photo

Your photo is rarely 16:9. Phone photos are usually 4:3, or 3:4 when held upright. The tool gives you two options:

  • Fill (crop) scales the photo until it covers the whole 1920 × 1080 frame and trims what sticks out, keeping the centre.
  • Fit (no crop) scales the photo until it fits entirely inside the frame and leaves empty bars on the sides.

Here is what that means for typical photos:

Original Fill Fit
Landscape 4:3 (4000 × 3000) scaled to 1920 × 1440; 180 px cut from top and bottom (a quarter of the height) scaled to 1440 × 1080; 240 px bars left and right
Portrait 3:4 (3000 × 4000) scaled to 1920 × 2560; only the middle 1080 px kept (58% of the height lost) scaled to 810 × 1080; 555 px bars on each side
Already 16:9 (3840 × 2160) exact, nothing lost exact, no bars

For landscapes, Fill is usually fine: losing a strip of sky and foreground rarely hurts. For portraits, Fill keeps only a horizontal band through the middle and often cuts off heads or feet. Fit is safer there — or crop first with Crop Image and choose yourself which part stays.

The bars in Fit mode are white for JPG files and transparent for PNG and WebP files. Transparent bars appear black or as a checkerboard depending on the app. If you want white bars from a PNG, convert it to JPG first with PNG to JPG.

Small photos: enlarging to Full HD

If your original is smaller than 1920 × 1080 — a 1280 × 720 screenshot or an old 1024 × 768 photo — the tool enlarges it. From 1280 px wide that's 1.5×, generally acceptable on screen. From 800 px wide it's 2.4×, and the result will look soft: enlarging can't invent detail. For a wallpaper, a sharp smaller picture often looks better than a blurry Full HD one.

File size to expect

A Full HD photo saved as JPG at 92% quality usually weighs roughly 300 KB to 1.2 MB, depending on detail: a clear sky compresses well, foliage and sensor noise don't. The same photo as PNG is often 2–5 MB, while flat graphics such as slides and screenshots stay small in PNG.

The result keeps your file's format: JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG. If it needs to be lighter for a website or an upload limit, run it through Compress Image or straight to 500 KB.
